Donation - Cathedral Restoration

The Cathedral of the Holy Name
Damaged portions of the Cathedral that need restoration

AN APPEAL

The Holy Name Cathedral is not only the Mother Church of the Archdiocese of Bombay and the seat of the Archbishop of Bombay, His Eminence Oswald Cardinal Gracias, it is also a national heritage.

It does not merely belong to the Catholic community, but is the living expression and soul of a contemporary nation. A great nation that has been the historical home of all major religions spanning time, generations and ages. It is also the living example and symbol of the generosity and nobility of a great nation and people.

We have a collective duty to preserve our Church heritage, a heritage that carries the fingerprint of generations of our people and reinforces the respect for all religions that is part of our moral and national character.

Holy Name Cathedral needs each of us now. We owe it to our past and we have a sacred obligation to our future generations in its preservation because preserving our heritage establishes the integrity of a community and a nation, reinforces our collective values, beliefs and gives expression to our national identity.

The Holy Name Cathedral needs physical healing to undo the damage caused by the ravages of time and the elements, pollution, water seepage and natural weathering.

Please contribute generously to preserve and save this living religious heritage. We must always keep in mind that the Cathedral is not only the symbol of the Catholic Church, it is a living Treasure that must be preserved as part of our great heritage.
